Bonjela Junior Gel - 15g

bonjela® Junior Gel – 15g is an oromucosal gel used to relieve the pain and discomfort of common mouth ulcers. It’s a clear, almost colourless gel applied directly to the sore area inside the mouth or on the gums.

It contains:

• Lidocaine hydrochloride 0.5% w/w: a local anaesthetic to numb the sore area and ease pain/irritation
• Cetylpyridinium chloride 0.025% w/w: an antiseptic to help kill bacteria and reduce the risk of infection

Who it’s for: adults, the elderly, and children over 5 months.

Important: bonjela Junior gel is not suitable for treatment of teething in children. 

Always use as directed in the leaflet.

For adults, the elderly and children over 5 months:

1. Check the cap is unbroken before first use.
2. For use in the mouth only.
3. Apply a small amount of gel to the painful/sore area using a clean fingertip or swab.
4. This may be repeated after 20 minutes, and then every 3 hours as needed.

Do not exceed the stated dose.

If symptoms worsen or do not go away, speak to your doctor or dentist.

If you miss a dose, apply a new dose and continue as before.

In the event of an overdose, seek medical advice. 

Active ingredients:

• Lidocaine hydrochloride 0.5% w/w
• Cetylpyridinium chloride 0.025% w/w

Other ingredients:

Ethanol (alcohol), glycerol, banana flavour fragrance (contains Eugenol), sodium saccharin, carbomer, triethanolamine, water.

Also contains:

• Alcohol (ethanol) 242.2mg per 1g; may cause a burning sensation on damaged skin
• Less than 1 mmol sodium (23mg) per dose (essentially “sodium-free”)
• Fragrance allergen: Eugenol may cause allergic reactions 

Do not use

• If you/your child are allergic to lidocaine, cetylpyridinium chloride, any ingredient, or other local anaesthetics
• In babies under 5 months
• If you suffer from abnormal blood pigment levels
• For teething in children

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if

• You/your child have heart or liver problems

Taking other medicines

Do not use with medicines for:

• High blood pressure (propranolol)
• Stomach conditions (cimetidine)
• Water-retention (diuretics)

Seek advice before use if taking: other local anaesthetics or similar medicines (e.g., antiarrhythmic mexiletine), erythromycin, or itraconazole.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breast-feeding, ask a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Possible side effects

Stop using and contact a doctor if you notice:

• Bluish colouring of the skin, shortness of breath, headache, lack of energy
• Skin rash, itchy or irritated skin
