Calpol Infant Suspension - 200ml

Calpol Infant Suspension 200ml is a paracetamol-based oral medicine specially formulated to provide effective relief from pain and fever in babies and young children from 2 months of age (weighing over 4kg).

It is commonly used to help relieve:

• Fever (high temperature)
• Pain following routine vaccinations (from 2 months)
• Teething pain
• Toothache
• Headache
• Sore throat
• Aches and pains associated with colds and flu

The liquid suspension has a pleasant strawberry flavour, is gentle on the stomach, and allows accurate dosing using an oral syringe, making it suitable for use in infants who cannot swallow tablets.

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as advised by a pharmacist or GP.

Dosage (based on age):

• 2–3 months:
• 2.5ml after vaccination only (a second dose may be given after 4–6 hours if needed)
• 3–6 months:
• 2.5ml, up to 4 times in 24 hours
• 6–24 months:
• 5ml, up to 4 times in 24 hours
• 2–4 years:
• 7.5ml, up to 4 times in 24 hours
• 4–6 years:
• 10ml, up to 4 times in 24 hours

Administration:

• Shake the bottle well before use
• Measure the dose carefully using the supplied oral syringe
• Can be given with or without food

Important dosing advice:

• Leave at least 4 hours between doses
• Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours
• Do not give to babies under 2 months
• Do not use for more than 3 days without medical advice

Active ingredient:

• Paracetamol 120mg per 5ml

Other ingredients include:

• Liquid maltitol
• Glycerol
• Xanthan gum
• Strawberry flavour
• Purified water

Important warnings:

• Do not give with any other paracetamol-containing medicines
• Giving more than the recommended dose may cause serious liver damage

Do not use:

• In babies under 2 months
• If your child is allergic to paracetamol or any of the ingredients

Warnings & precautions:

• Consult a pharmacist or GP before use if your child has liver or kidney problems
• Contains maltitol, which may cause a mild laxative effect if taken in excess
• If symptoms persist, worsen, or fever lasts more than 3 days, seek medical advice

Possible side effects (rare):

• Skin rash or allergic reactions

• Use before the expiry date shown on the packaging
