Product Overview
Pack of 50 Caresens Pro glucose test strips for use with CareSens Pro/Dual meters. Quick, accurate glucose results with just 0.4 μL of blood, no coding required.
Description
Caresens Pro Test Strips – 50 Strips are blood glucose test strips designed for use with CareSens Pro and CareSens Dual glucose metres. These strips enable self-monitoring of blood glucose levels outside the body and are an essential component of diabetes self-management.
Key benefits include rapid results in around 5 seconds, requiring only a small blood sample (≈0.4 µL), and no manual coding, which simplifies the testing process and reduces the risk of user error. These features support timely decision-making in everyday diabetes care.
For accurate readings, these strips should be used only with compatible Caresens Pro or Caresens Dual meters; they are not interchangeable with other brands’ meters.
Brand: CareSens Pro (by i-SENS / distributed for UK market).
Pack Size: 50 test strips.
How to Use
- Prepare the meter: Ensure the CareSens Pro/Dual meter is ready and switched on.
- Insert a strip: Take one test strip from the vial and insert it into the meter’s strip port as indicated.
- Collect a blood sample: Wash and dry your hands. Use a lancing device to obtain a fresh drop of blood (≈0.4 μL).
- Apply the blood: Touch the edge of the test strip’s sample area to the blood drop until it is absorbed.
- Read the result: Your meter will count down and display the blood glucose reading in approximately 5 seconds.
- Record or act: Record the result and follow your clinician’s or diabetes care plan advice if adjustments to lifestyle or treatment are needed.
- Dispose: Discard the used test strip safely in accordance with local medical waste guidance; do not reuse strips.
Storage & Handling Tips
- Store strips in their original container with the lid tightly closed to protect from moisture and contaminants.
- Use strips within the expiry date and ideally within 12 months of opening.
- Only handle strips with clean, dry hands and avoid bending or altering them.
Ingredients
Unlike medicinal products, Caresens Pro Test Strips are diagnostic consumables rather than pharmaceuticals. Their “ingredients” are specialised biochemical reagents and materials formulated into the strip:
- FAD-dependent glucose dehydrogenase (FAD-GDH): enzyme reagent that reacts with glucose in whole blood.
- Mediator compounds: facilitate the electrical signal generation within the strip.
- Non-reactive support matrix materials: provide structural support and electrode contact surfaces.
- Electrochemical contacts and polymer substrates: allow the blood glucose meter to detect and process the assay signal.
These components enable the strip to generate an electrical current proportional to the glucose concentration in the blood sample, which the meter interprets as a glucose reading.
Side Effects & Warnings
Warnings & Precautions
• For self-monitoring use only: These strips are intended for in vitro diagnostic use with compatible CareSens Pro or Caresens Dual blood glucose monitoring devices.
• Single use only: Do not reuse test strips. Reuse can lead to inaccurate results and compromised diabetes management.
• Avoid contamination: Always ensure hands and sample sites are clean and dry before testing.
• Proper storage: Keep the container tightly closed, protect strips from moisture, excessive heat and direct sunlight, and use within the manufacturer’s expiry and discard dates.
• Not a diagnostic device: These strips and associated meters do not diagnose diabetes; interpretation of results and clinical decisions should be made in consultation with a healthcare professional.
• Do not bend or tamper with strips: Physical damage can affect performance and accuracy.
When to Seek Advice
If readings appear inconsistent with symptoms or if you are unsure how to interpret results, contact your diabetes care team or pharmacist for support. Results that are unexpectedly high or low should be followed up according to your diabetes care plan.
Allergic reactions or physical discomfort: While the strips are not applied to the body, if irritation occurs at the sampling site or you have concerns about testing, seek advice from a healthcare professional.
