1. Prepare the meter: Ensure your compatible Contour Next metre is switched on.
2. Insert a test strip: Remove one strip and insert it into the metre as indicated. The device will prepare for testing.
3. Apply blood sample: Wash and dry your hands; use a lancing device to obtain a small drop of fresh capillary whole blood (usually from the fingertip).
4. Place blood on strip: Touch the edge of the strip’s sample area to the drop. The strip will “sip” the blood.
5. View result: The meter will display your blood glucose reading in approx. 5 seconds.
6. Record and act: Log your results and follow your diabetes care plan if adjustments are needed.
7. Dispose: Dispose of used test strips and lancets in an appropriate sharps bin — do not reuse strips.

Second-Chance® sampling: If the first sample was insufficient, you have up to ~60 seconds to add more blood to the same strip to avoid waste.
