FreeStyle Optium Test Strips – Pack of 50 are self-monitoring blood glucose test strips intended for people living with diabetes who need regular monitoring of their blood glucose levels. These strips are compatible with a range of FreeStyle glucose metres, including FreeStyle Optium, FreeStyle Optium Neo and FreeStyle Libre systems, giving flexibility when used alongside your existing monitoring devices.
Each test strip is individually foil-wrapped to protect from moisture and contamination, and designed to deliver a fast result in approximately 5 seconds using only a small blood sample (~0.6 µL). The strip’s fill trigger technology ensures the reaction starts only when sufficient blood has been applied, improving accuracy and reducing wasted strips.

How to Use
Overview
- Prepare hands: Wash and dry hands thoroughly before testing to reduce contamination and improve accuracy.
- Insert strip: Remove one test strip from its foil wrapper and insert it into your compatible FreeStyle metre according to the meter manufacturer’s instructions.
- Apply blood sample: Use a sterile lancing device to obtain a fresh capillary blood drop. Touch the white sampling area (fill trigger) of the strip to the blood drop until the required amount is drawn in.
- Read result: The metre will display your blood glucose reading in around 5 seconds.
- Record result: Document your reading and follow your individual diabetes care plan.
- Dispose: Used strips should be placed in an appropriate sharps or clinical waste container and not reused.
