Piriton Allergy Tablets - 60 Tablets

Piriton Allergy Tablets contain chlorphenamine maleate 4mg, a drowsy (sedating) antihistamine that helps relieve the symptoms of allergy by reducing the effects of histamine in the body.

Used for the symptomatic relief of:

• Hayfever and other allergies (including pet, house dust mite and mould spore allergies)
• Itchy skin rashes and hives (urticaria), including redness, swelling, tenderness and irritation
• Insect bites and stings
• Prickly heat / heat rash
• Reactions to foods, food additives or medicines
• Itch associated with chickenpox

Because it can cause drowsiness, some people prefer it when symptoms are disruptive at night (always follow the dose instructions). 

For oral use. Swallow with water. Read the leaflet before use.

Adults and children aged 12 years and over

• Take 1 tablet every 4–6 hours as required.
• Maximum: 6 tablets in 24 hours.

Children aged 6 to 12 years

• Take ½ tablet every 4–6 hours as required.
• Maximum: 3 tablets in 24 hours (total daily amount).

Children under 6 years

• Not recommended for this tablet product.

Duration of use

• Do not use continuously for more than 2 weeks without medical advice.

If you take too many

• Seek urgent medical advice and take the pack/leaflet with you. 

Active ingredient (per tablet): Chlorphenamine maleate 4mg

Other ingredients: Lactose, maize starch, yellow iron oxide (E172), magnesium stearate, purified water.

May cause drowsiness. If affected, do not drive or use tools or machines. Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.

Do not take if:

• You are allergic to chlorphenamine or any ingredients.
• You are taking, or have taken within the last 14 days, a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (used for depression and certain other conditions).

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if you have:

• Glaucoma, enlarged prostate/difficulty passing urine
• Epilepsy, asthma/bronchitis, or liver/kidney disease
• Heart disease or high blood pressure
• If you are pregnant or breast-feeding

Possible side effects (not everyone gets them):

• Drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth
• Nausea/vomiting, difficulty concentrating or coordination problems

Stop taking and get urgent medical help if you develop signs of a serious allergic reaction (for example swelling of the face/lips/tongue/throat or breathing difficulty).
