Zirtek Allergy Relief Tablets - 21 Tablets

Zirtek Allergy Relief 10mg film-coated tablets contain cetirizine dihydrochloride, an antihistamine that helps block the effects of histamine involved in allergic reactions.

Indicated for adults and children aged 6 years and over to relieve symptoms of:

• Hayfever (seasonal allergic rhinitis)
• Year-round allergies such as dust or pet allergies (perennial allergic rhinitis)
• Urticaria (hives), including swelling, redness and itchiness of the skin

Helps relieve common allergy symptoms such as sneezing, irritated/runny/blocked nose, itchy, red and watering eyes, and skin rashes.

Always take exactly as described in the leaflet or as your doctor/pharmacist has told you. Swallow with a glass of liquid. The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over

• 10mg once daily: take 1 tablet once a day.
• If you feel drowsy or dizzy, taking ½ tablet twice daily may be better than 1 tablet once daily.

Children aged 6 to 12 years

• 5mg twice daily: give ½ tablet twice a day.

Do not take more than one tablet (10mg) per day in total.

Children under 6 years: do not give this tablet product (dose adjustment not possible).

Kidney problems: dose may need adjusting. Moderate renal impairment: 5mg once daily (½ tablet once a day). Severe kidney disease: ask for advice.

If you do not feel better or you feel worse after 3 days: talk to a doctor. 

Active ingredient (per tablet): Cetirizine dihydrochloride 10mg

Other ingredients: Microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, Opadry Y-1-7000 (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (E464), titanium dioxide (E171), macrogol 400). 

Do not take Zirtek Allergy Relief if:

• You have end-stage kidney disease (severe renal failure requiring dialysis).
• You are allergic to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, other piperazine derivatives, or any ingredient in the tablets.

Talk to a doctor or pharmacist before taking if:

• You have kidney problems (you may need a lower dose).
• You have difficulty passing urine (e.g., prostate/bladder problems, spinal cord issues).
• You have epilepsy or are at risk of convulsions.
• You are pregnant (should be avoided; use only if necessary after medical advice) or breast-feeding (do not take unless you have contacted a doctor).

Alcohol: avoid taking with alcohol.

Driving/machinery: at recommended doses, studies did not show impaired attention, but observe your response and do not exceed the dose.

Allergy tests: ask if you should stop for several days before testing (can affect results).

Contains lactose: seek advice if you have been told you have an intolerance to some sugars.

Possible side effects (not everyone gets them):

• Common (up to 1 in 10): sleepiness, dizziness, headache, diarrhoea, nausea, dry mouth, fatigue
• Uncommon (up to 1 in 100): agitation, tingling sensations, abdominal pain, itchy skin, rash, feeling unwell
• Rare/very rare: severe allergic reactions (including angioedema), fast heart rate, convulsions, abnormal liver function, oedema, blood platelet reduction, visual disturbance, difficulty passing urine
• Frequency not known: urinary retention, hepatitis, severe skin reactions, nightmares, memory problems, vertigo, joint/muscle pain

Stop taking and seek urgent medical help if you notice symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including swelling of the face or throat.
